Four women's freestyle events (44kg, 51kg, 59kg and 67kg) eliminations of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championships were staged on the morning of August 23. In the 44kg competition, China's Lei Jingling and Russia's Elena Gnatenko advanced to the final to be held tonight.

The Junior World Championships opened on August 21. After the completion of the two-day men's Greco-Roman competition, the women's freestyle competition started today. Ecuadorian wrestler Diana Piza Yangce, runner-up of the 2006 Junior World Wrestling Championships, was miserably crashed out by China's Lei Jingling in the first match. In the semifinals Lei counterattacked from one round down to edge Abutalipova of Kazakhstan 2-1. Fortunately it was Lei's technical point at the last moment that sent her to the final.

Lei's opponent in the final was Elena Gnatenko from Russia, who advanced more easily except for losing a round to an Indian opponent in the eliminations.

The final will be staged at 6:00 p.m. today.
