
The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championships enters fourth day competition at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium today and four gold medals for the women's freestyle wrestling will be produced. The women's freestyle wrestling 48kg, 55kg , 63kg and 72kg eliminations will be held in the morning. The revivals for the four events will be held in the afternoon and the finals will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The women's freestyle wrestling competition of the 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championship entered its first day on August 23 in four events (44kg, 51kg, 59kg and 67kg). As the defending champion, the Russian corps showed their strong momentum by winning the 44kg and 67kg gold medals, while
China achieved good a good result of one gold(59kg), two silvers and one bronze through their excellent performance in all the four events. Whitney Conder of the US outperformed Kumari Babita of India to win the title of the women's freestyle 51kg event.
The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championship opened on August 21. In the Greco-Roman competition in the first two days,all the young wrestlers from different countries showed their strong momentum and good form. In the first-day competition, Turkey was obviously the biggest winner with the 60kg and 96kg gold medals. Armenia and Iran won the 74kg title and the 50kg title respectively. In the second competition day, Russia showed their strong momentum by winning its first gold medal in the 66kg event and honoring its title of defending champion with the stunning slam of Russian wrestler Soslan Farniev in the 120kg final. Iranian Aliakbari rallied from one round behind to grab the gold medal in 84kg final while Bulgarian top wrestler Kostandinov Alexandar won the gold medal in 55kg.
The championships attracted nearly 600 wrestlers from 60 countries and regions including a few medalists of the Junior World Championships last year. |
