Junior Worlds enters the last day, men's freestle continues

The 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championships entered  the last day at the China Agricultural University Gymnasium today and the last four gold medals for the men's freestyle wrestling will be produced. The men's freestyle wrestling 55kg, 66kg, 84kg and 120kg eliminations will be held in the morning. The finals will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The men's freestyle competition of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championship started yesterday. As a result, the gold medals of the four events (50kg, 60kg, 74kg and 96kg) were divided up by four countries.In the men's 96kg freestyle final Vkrainian Valerii Andriitsev rallied from one period behind to upset Russian Alen Zaseev. in the 74kg final, the Russian wrestler Denis Tsargush won an easy victory as expected to clinch the gold medal.In the men's 60kg final defending champion Mehdi Taghavi of Iran defeated Redzep Ismail of Bulgaria to win the gold. Mongolian Dashpuntsag Tulga came from nowhere to beat Ohan Gikinyan of Armenia in the final of the men's 50kg freestyle.

The 2007 Junior World Wrestling Championships wrapped up all the eight women's freestyle events on August 24 with China claiming three golds(59kg, 55kg and 72kg), two silvers and two bronzes on aggregate to win the team title. Defending champions Russia gain two golds in the 44kg and 67kg events. Whitney Conder of the US outperformed Kumari Babita of India to win the title of the women's freestyle 51kg event. Ukraine won the gold in the 63kg and Sofia Mattsson of Sweden got the 48kg gold medal.

2007 Junior World Wrestling Championships opened on August 21. In the Greco-Roman competition in the first two days, all the young wrestlers from different countries showed their strong momentum and good form. In the first-day competition, Turkey was obviously the biggest winner with the 60kg and 96kg gold medals. Armenia and Iran won the 74kg title and the 50kg title respectively. In the second competition day, Russia showed their strong momentum by winning its first gold medal in the 66kg event and honoring its title of defending champion with the stunning slam of Russian wrestler Soslan Farniev in the 120kg final. Iranian Aliakbari rallied from one round behind to grab the gold medal in 84kg final while Bulgarian top wrestler Kostandinov Alexandar won the gold medal in 55kg.

The championships attracted nearly 600 wrestlers from 60 countries and regions including a few medalists of the Junior World Championships last year.
